Private ADHD Titration There is currently a national shortage of medications to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due to manufacturing issues and a growing global demand. Our service is able to provide private ADHD treatment as an alternative to waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees cover the cost of a single prescription. Titration A thorough assessment of your ADHD symptoms will be carried out by an experienced consultant Psychiatrist. This includes a thorough medical history, as well as an assessment using the typical ADHD questionnaires and rating scales. After your examination, you will be informed whether medication may be beneficial in your particular situation. This will be discussed at your follow-up appointment (which can take place in person, via video link or over the phone). Your clinician will explain the different options available for you to take medication and, if you choose to start on medication we will recommend titrating the dose to optimise the balance of benefits and side effects for you. This process may take several weeks, and it involves gradually altering your child's medication until the proper balance is achieved. It's not uncommon to need to adjust two or three medicines before determining the most effective one for your child's ADHD symptoms. It is crucial that parents are involved in the titration and be on the lookout for their child's behavior, so they can let the doctors know whether the medication is working or causing adverse reactions. If you decide to return to NHS treatment you will receive an individual prescription for your medication. You will be required to pay at the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation cost. You'll need to attend six-monthly appointments to check your medication. This includes pulse and blood pressure measurements. Annual checks are also required. Follow-up titration ADHD adults After the assessment is completed, you will be able to make follow up appointments with the psychiatrist as appropriate. The appointment is usually done via zoom video call. However, in certain circumstances, it might be possible for an audio-only consultation to be scheduled (again at an additional cost). We will then go over the options for treatment and then decide on a bespoke, individualised ADHD medication adjustment. This will include a review and discussion of your medication dose and any adverse effects you might be experiencing. The cost for these titration sessions is PS150 for face-to face sessions and PS60 for online or telephone video consultations. Costs for medication are extra and are paid directly to the pharmacy. The psychiatrist will ask you questions regarding your family history, the effects of your ADHD symptoms on your life and any relationship problems or mental health issues you may be experiencing. If you are unsure of what your preference is We suggest you speak with your GP before booking your private appointment as certain providers have different policies regarding whether they require an GP referral letter or not. Check if your GP accepts a Shared Care Agreement, which means that you will be referred to them once you leave the clinic to get a prescription medication. Medication For many people who want a private diagnosis of ADHD treatment is an important element of their treatment. Getting a prescription from an NHS psychiatrist can be a challenge and time-consuming. If you're required to discuss your titration or treatment plan in more detail it is likely that you'll be sent to the private clinic that performed your initial evaluation. If this occurs, the titration appointment will be included in the consultation fee, and they will receive their medication through an individual prescription (see Consultation fees above). This can cost more than prescriptions from the NHS since the pharmacy will charge you for the medication.
